How To Remove The Anthers Of Lilies in Two Easy Steps
Gorgeous Lilies
Not only do they perform fantastically well in the garden, they also make great cut flowers, offering a long vase life and a vast array of striking colors to enliven your interior.
LILY POLLEN CAN stain furniture and clothing, so it’s an awesome idea to remove the anthers (orange colored tips at the end of the stamens). Here are some tips on removing anthers from Lilies.
1. As the flower begins to open, gently pick off the anthers. When soft and rubbery and not yet full of pollen they won’t cause stains.
2. Once the anthers have become coated with powdery pollen, you will need to carefully remove them with a tissue, to avoid marking the delicate lily petals. If you do happen to get some pollen on your clothing, rub it gently with a dry cloth or press sticky tape against the pollen. Do not wet the fabric, as this will set the stain.
